Hatfield Shop Safe radio scheme is a partnership between local retailers, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Herts Police, Resolve and other organisations.
The scheme is part of a drive to tackle shoplifting and anti-social behaviour and reduce crime in the main shopping areas.
How does it work?
The scheme provides instant communication between shops, CCTV control rooms and the Police about shoplifters or anyone acting in an anti-social manner. Radios are located in over 32 shops reporting into a CCTV control room.
The Radio Link:
The partnership members are linked together with radios and all partners can communicate over the radios. This can create an environment where you no longer feel in isolation (especially if lone working) and can rely on the support from the rest of the partnership during a 'real time' crime problem and you can request or offer help in an emergency situation.
CCTV can play a major part in crime prevention and detection. Hatfield Town Centre currently have numerous CCTV cameras in the town and this number is increasing in Spring 2019 to cover more areas. Combined with 'on the ground' radio information, CCTV can track offenders and assist in their apprehension.
Who can join?
Local retailers and businesses in Hatfield Town Centre and the immediate facility. If you would like more information email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
